NATURE SCAVENGER HUNT
A simple summer activity that gets kids exploring the nature around them! Great for sparking curiosity and connection with the outdoors.
Materials needed:
Printable or handwritten scavenger list (PDF available)
Magnifying glass (optional)
What to do:
Head outside and encourage your children to explore their environment, find items on the list, and share their discoveries. For added adventure, provide a magnifying glass to examine items more closely and invite them to talk about colours, shapes, and textures!

Language skills (sharing discoveries, asking questions, describing objects)
Categorization / sorting
Outdoor awareness and curiosity

CAR WASH
A playful, hands-on activity that combines
sensory exploration, creativity, and symbolic play.
Materials needed:
Bin / container
Water
Soap (dish soap works fine)
Toy cars (or other washable toys)
Sponge / small brush (optional)
What to do:
Fill a bin with soapy water and encourage your children to wash, scrub, and rinse their toy cars (or other washable toys) using their hands, sponge, or brush. To add a layer of fun, feel free to put on some summer music in the background!

Fine motor skills (scrubbing, squeezing, handling toys)
Sensory exploration
Symbolic play (mimicking real-life actions)
Social skills (collaborating, sharing, respecting personal space if done with others)

DIY CHALK
A colourful activity that lets the whole family explore their art skills!
Materials needed:
Muffin tray
Water
Cornstarch
Food colouring (or natural alternatives)
Paintbrushes
What to do:
Fill each compartment of the muffin tray with equal parts water and cornstarch (approximately 2 tbsp) and mix in a few drops of food colouring. Give your child a paintbrush and invite them to experiment with colours, shapes, and patterns on the pavement. Simply rinse your designs for an easy cleanup!
